Save the Date for the Eighth Indigenous Women’s Health Meeting

Mark your calendars for the Eighth Indigenous Women’s Health Meeting, to be held from Wednesday, March 13, to Friday, March 15, 2024, at the Sheraton Albuquerque Uptown in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Attendees will join colleagues to discuss and collaborate on ways to improve obstetric and gynecologic health care and health outcomes for Indigenous people.

Conference Description

The International Indigenous Women’s Health Meeting, held every two years, focuses on innovative clinical care models and community‐based public health approaches for women and their families of Indigenous People of North America. During the conference participants will further strengthen their knowledge about prevalent health problems facing Indigenous communities and promising strategies to improve wellness and acquire practical skills. Opportunities to share knowledge, to network and to develop partnerships will be built into the program. Topics will include rural maternity safety, trauma‐informed care, maternal substance use, cultural safety and much more. The meeting provides an opportunity for community members, healers, Elders, Knowledge Holders, clinicians, students, and others who work with Indigenous women and communities to come together to learn, share, support, and build partnerships to improve the health of all Indigenous people seeking obstetric and gynecologic care.

Conference Objectives

  1. Employ enhanced systems of culturally informed care to advance the health status of Indigenous people seeking obstetric and gynecologic care.
  2. Select strategies and unique solutions to meet the emerging health needs of Indigenous people seeking obstetric and gynecologic care, their families, and communities.
  3. Implement evidence-informed practices that enhance the health care team’s clinical skills in providing quality care to Indigenous people seeking obstetric and gynecologic care.

Accreditation

  • PHYSICIANS: This activity has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
  • NURSES: This activity’s accreditation for continuing education units is pending.
  • OTHER HEALTHCARE PROVIDER CE: This program has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ for physicians. Many societies and credentialing bodies accept the AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ as an equivalent as long as the topic is relevant to applicant's field or discipline. To obtain non-physician credit, refer to the guidelines provided by your board to understand specific requirements. Supporting documentation for applying for CE relevant to this activity is pending. A certificate with a statement of attendance will be provided after the conference.
